Weather: Rain, storms, and dust - When the temperature drops - What to expect on Tsiknopemti
Greece is set to experience a bout of severe weather this week with consecutive low-pressure systems bringing rain and storms, especially on Tsiknopemti and following days.
Greece is entering a period of adverse weather this week, marked by a series of low-pressure systems that will bring rain and thunderstorms across the country. The most significant drop in temperature is expected on Tuesday, with the weather remaining turbulent on Tsiknopemti, characterized by widespread rainfall in both the western and eastern regions. Heavy rainfalls are anticipated in the western mainland and the Peloponnese by the evening hours, continuing the trend of unsettled weather.
For today, Monday, February 9, localized storms and rainfall are expected in many areas, particularly from midday onwards. According to meteorological forecasts, snowfall is likely in mountainous and semi-mountainous regions in Thrace, as temperatures are predicted to drop. Winds from the eastern direction may reach up to 7 Beaufort in the Northern Aegean, adding to the unfavorable conditions during this period.
As shared by meteorologist Christina Rigo on Mega, initial rainfall and sporadic storms will occur particularly in the Ionian and in the western and northern mainland. Gradually, by midday, rain will also fall in the northern Aegean, indicating that the unsettled weather is likely to persist over the next few days. This could lead to implications for local activities and travel plans as people prepare for the challenges posed by the incoming weather patterns.
