This is where the region's new giant warehouse is to be located – costing half a billion
The Region of Dalarna in Sweden plans to build a large central warehouse in Främby, expected to cost half a billion kronor and be five times larger than a temporary facility opened last year.
The Region of Dalarna is embarking on a significant infrastructure project with plans to construct a new warehouse in Främby. This facility will span 12,000 square meters, making it five times larger than the temporary crisis warehouse that was inaugurated in Ingarvet, Falun, in October of the previous year. Martin Ekberg, Chief Administrator at Regionservice, expressed optimism about the project, highlighting its potential to enhance regional operations.
The new warehouse aims to consolidate various functions that have been spread across different locations, including a central regional logistics hub and a preparedness storage facility designed to hold supplies for up to three months. This centralized approach is expected to streamline operations and improve the efficiency of emergency responses in the region. The planned starting date for construction is 2029, with an anticipated move-in date for operations set for the autumn of 2031.
On February 16, the Regional Council will discuss and make a decision regarding the building plans in Främby. This development indicates a proactive step by the Region of Dalarna in addressing logistical challenges and preparing better for future emergencies, reflecting a broader trend of investing in infrastructure to support public health and safety needs.
