The Ministry of Land will revise housing construction regulations such as noise and distance.

The South Korean government plans to revise noise measurement regulations and distance criteria for housing construction to expedite housing supply.

The South Korean government is set to amend housing construction regulations in order to increase the speed of housing supply. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that from the 10th, it will announce legislative revisions regarding the 'Regulations on Housing Construction Standards' for a 40-day consultation period. A key feature of the proposed amendments is the overhaul of noise measurement criteria related to housing construction. Currently, the noise measurement standards applicable to high-rise buildings (six stories or more) can only be replaced from an open window to a closed window measurement if the area of the residential complex is less than 300,000 square meters. The proposed change would remove area restrictions, allowing closed-window measurements in complexes larger than 300,000 square meters as well.
