FUOYE VC highlights five-year achievements as Ooni, Sultan, Kukah honoured

During the 10th convocation ceremony of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, presented a summary of significant milestones achieved over his five-year term. His tenure has seen increases in enrollment, academic offerings, and a focus on both innovation and research. The event also marked the graduation of 7,684 students, including the university's first law graduates, illustrating the institution's growth in diversifying education and enhancing academic excellence.
In a keynote address delivered on behalf of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu emphasized the need for universities to orient their academic programs toward innovation and sustainable research that positively affects the quality of life across Nigeria. He challenged the new graduates to utilize their education and competencies for the advancement of national development. The convocation also included the conferment of honorary doctorates to five distinguished Nigerians, including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Saβad Abubakar III, recognizing their contributions to society.
