Today, in Kfar Qara, a 25-year-old man was shot dead, and a woman sustained serious injuries. The police indicated that the shooting is likely linked to criminal activities and they are currently searching the area for suspects. Such incidents point toward an escalating violence problem within certain communities.
On Friday, another 30-year-old was shot dead in Yafia in the Lower Galilee, following a day that saw five individuals killed in two separate incidents. Morning shootings claimed the lives of three men outside an apartment building in the village of Suwa'ad Khamira in the Lower Galilee. Among the deceased were two cousins and the father of one of them, highlighting the tragic familial impact of this ongoing violence. Later that evening, two additional men in their 30s and 40s were shot dead in the Shuafat refugee camp in East Jerusalem, further escalating concerns regarding public safety.
The year 2025 has shown a troubling trend where, on average, an Arab citizen in Israel was murdered every 36 hours. The number of annual murders has significantly increased since Itamar Ben Gvir was appointed Minister in charge of the police at the end of 2022. Statistics suggest that there were 249 Arab murders in 2025, up from 233 in 2024 and 242 in 2023. In sharp contrast, only 108 Arab individuals were murdered in 2022 prior to Ben Gvir's tenure, underscoring the severity of the ongoing crisis and raising questions about the effectiveness of current law enforcement approaches.
