Datafolha: João Campos surpasses Raquel Lyra and leads the race in Pernambuco
João Campos, the mayor of Recife, leads Raquel Lyra in the Pernambuco gubernatorial election according to a recent Datafolha poll.
A recent Datafolha poll indicates that João Campos (PSB), the mayor of Recife, is leading the gubernatorial race in Pernambuco against incumbent governor Raquel Lyra (PSD). Campos is reported to have 47% of the votes compared to Lyra's 35% in the first round of elections. Other candidates, Eduardo Moura (Novo) and Ivan Moraes (PSOL), have significantly less support at 5% and 1% respectively. Additionally, 10% of respondents indicated they would choose blank or null votes, while 2% did not answer the question.
In a potential second round between these two main candidates, the poll shows Campos maintaining his lead with 53% against Lyra's 40%. This suggests a growing support for Campos in the gubernatorial race, particularly as the election approaches. The survey was conducted between October 2 and October 4, interviewing 1,022 people, with a margin of error of three percentage points and a confidence level of 95%.
The findings also reveal a slight narrowing of the gap compared to previous polls, indicating a dynamic electoral landscape. The results, commissioned by CBN Recife, emphasize the importance of ongoing voter sentiment as both candidates ramp up their campaigns ahead of the election. The poll registered with the TSE highlights the competitive nature of the race and the potential implications for future governance in the state of Pernambuco.
