Heavy rains in the Idlib region and the coastal province of Latakia in northwestern Syria have resulted in significant flooding, leading to the tragic deaths of three individuals. According to officials, rescue operations have commenced, and shelters are being established in the affected areas to provide aid to those impacted. The disaster has particularly affected camps for internally displaced persons, where conditions were already precarious.

The state news agency SANA reported on the death of a volunteer from the Syrian Arab Red Crescent and injuries sustained by four others during their humanitarian efforts in Latakia province. The report indicated that the vehicle used for their mission was swept away in a valley while they were responding to the requests for help, illustrating the severe impact of the flooding.

In a further tragedy, two children lost their lives due to the sudden flooding that hit the Ain Issa area in northern Latakia. Emergency responders have been working tirelessly to clear the roads and provide assistance in the displaced persons camps that have been inundated, showing the ongoing challenges the region faces amid humanitarian crises exacerbated by natural disasters.
