The suspect involved in the shooting of the GRU deputy chief has been detained and extradited to Russia
Lyubomir Korba, a Russian citizen with possible Ukrainian citizenship, has been arrested in Dubai and extradited to Russia, accused of being the direct executor in an assassination attempt on a GRU official.
Lyubomir Korba, a Russian citizen born in Ukraine in 1960, has been arrested and extradited to Russia from Dubai following a request from Moscow. He is implicated in the assassination attempt on Aleksejevs, the first deputy chief of the GRU, who was shot in his building's stairwell. Several reports suggest that Korba may also hold Ukrainian citizenship, adding complexity to the international dimensions of the case.
In addition to Korba, the Russian authorities have detained Viktor Vasins, born in 1959, and are also seeking Zinaida Serebricka, born in 1971, connected to the same case. Serebricka reportedly lived in the same residential complex as Aleksejevs and has since fled to Ukraine. The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) describes these individuals as accomplices in the assassination attempt, indicating a broader network involved in the event.
The Investigative Committee of Russia claims that Korba arrived in Moscow at the end of December on a mission assigned by Ukrainian intelligence services. The situation raises numerous geopolitical implications, particularly concerning the ongoing tensions and conflicts involving Russia and Ukraine, as it highlights the intricate ties and alleged espionage activities across borders.
