Estonian Choir Association Awards Annual Prizes

The Estonian Choir Association announced the recipients of its annual awards for choir and wind music on February 8, recognizing outstanding achievements within the musical community.

On February 8, the Estonian Choir Association held an event at the Estonia Concert Hall to announce the winners of its annual awards for choir and wind music. A total of 77 nominees competed for thirteen titles, with selections made by the music council of the association. The evaluation criteria included musical accomplishments of choirs, orchestras, and conductors, their concert activities, recordings, participation in competitions, and overall contributions to the cultural space.

Among the notable awardees, the Musamari Choir School Girls' Choir, under the direction of Tiina Mee, was named Choir of the Year in the concert choir category. They achieved significant recognition by securing first place in the youth choir category at the international Salzburg Choir Festival in Austria, as well as second place at the international choir festival 'Tallinn 2025'. Furthermore, accolades were given to the Rae Chamber Choir, led by conductor Ingrid Orumaa, who received the Choir of the Year award for their contributions to the cultural scene, particularly noted for their participation in the community concert 'Tormis 95'.

The annual awards serve as a celebration of the vibrant choral and wind music culture in Estonia, highlighting outstanding talents, fostering community spirit, and encouraging high artistic standards.
