81-year-old dies after bee attack in a village in Tocantins
An 81-year-old man died after being attacked by bees in a rural area of Tocantins, Brazil, with two others hospitalized due to the incident.
In a tragic incident in the village of Brejão, located in the Araguaína region of northern Tocantins, an 81-year-old man named Gregório Alves Paranhos lost his life following a bee attack. The attack occurred on Saturday, October 8, as he was in a rural area, where he suffered multiple stings that proved fatal. The local Security Public Secretariat (SSP) confirmed that despite efforts to provide immediate medical assistance, the elderly man could not survive the ordeal.
Emergency medical services, known as SAMU, were dispatched to the scene and treated two other individuals who were also affected by the bee attack. However, their names and current health status have not been disclosed, leaving concerns about their recovery. This incident highlights the dangers associated with bee attacks, particularly in rural areas where individuals may not have immediate access to medical care.
The body of Gregório Alves was transferred to the Medical Legal Institute in Araguaína for necropsy examination before being released to his family for burial. This unfortunate event serves as a reminder of the potential risks present in rural environments, where wildlife interactions can lead to serious, even fatal, consequences for vulnerable individuals, particularly the elderly.
