Oskar Kwiatkowski and Michał Nowaczyk fail to advance to the Round of 16 in giant slalom qualifications
Polish skiers Oskar Kwiatkowski and Michał Nowaczyk did not qualify for the Round of 16 in the giant slalom qualifiers.
In the giant slalom qualifications held recently, Polish athletes Oskar Kwiatkowski and Michał Nowaczyk were unable to secure spots in the Round of 16. Kwiatkowski initially performed better, finishing mid-pack in the first run, but he made critical errors in the second round leading to a total time of 1:28.70. Meanwhile, Nowaczyk managed a faster time, finishing just 0.62 seconds ahead of Kwiatkowski but still fell short of the qualification mark.
The competition saw local athlete Roland Fischnaller take first place with a time of 1:25.13, easily surpassing his fellow competitor Aaron March who clocked 1:26.08 and Austrian racer Benjamin Karl who finished in 1:26.49. The Round of 16 heats are scheduled to begin at 13:24 and will include a women's race where Polish athlete Aleksandra Król-Walas will participate.
Overall, Kwiatkowski's performance was disappointing given his recent history as the World Champion but highlights the unpredictable nature of snow sports where even top athletes can falter under pressure. The absence of both Kwiatkowski and Nowaczyk in the next stage of the competition will be a notable point for Polish sports fans as they follow their national team's progress in international events.
