2026 Licensing for Vehicles in the DF Expires Starting on the 23rd; Check the Calendar and Get Organized
The licensing fee for vehicles registered in the Federal District will expire starting February 23, with varying payment deadlines based on the vehicle's license plate number.
The licensing fee for vehicles registered in the Federal District (DF) of Brazil is set to expire starting on February 23, 2026. Owners must ensure to pay by February 27, following a schedule that corresponds to the last digit of their vehicle's registration plate. The fee amounts to R$106.26 for any vehicle within the jurisdiction of the Department of Traffic of the Federal District, known as Detran-DF.
Payments can be made at various banks, including Caixa Econômica, Banco do Brasil, Banco de Brasília (BRB), Bradesco, and Sicoob, as well as at lottery outlets. Vehicle owners also have the option to print their payment slips at Detran service locations, either by appointment or on a first-come-first-served basis at 'Na Hora' service centers. It’s important to note that Detran-DF does not send out the licensing payment slips via email, a precaution to prevent scams targeting vehicle owners.
Moreover, vehicles that are exempt from the IPVA (Tax on Vehicle Ownership) will not be affected by this licensing fee, but owners are still encouraged to be vigilant about their payment deadlines and methods to avoid potential penalties and ensure compliance with local regulations.
