The Aligarh Cyber Cell police have arrested 12 individuals from six states in connection with a pan-India cyber investment fraud involving foreign links.

The Aligarh Cyber Cell police in Uttar Pradesh have made significant progress in cracking down on cyber fraud by arresting 12 individuals across six states. This operation has unveiled a pan-India cyber investment racket that attracted investors through fraudulent means, with connections to foreign entities. The details were shared by SP (Rural) Amrit Jain, who highlighted the importance of the operation in combatting cyber crime in the region.

The arrested individuals were apprehended from states including Odisha, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. They were allegedly operating a cyber investment racket via WhatsApp groups, which were discovered to lure investors and deceive them on a large scale. The police collaborated with the Ministry of Telecommunications to identify around 600 WhatsApp groups that were being used for these fraudulent activities, showcasing the extensive nature of the cyber fraud network.

According to police claims, their timely intervention has helped prevent an estimated fraud of about 500 crore rupees, potentially safeguarding approximately 150,000 investors across the country. This operation not only highlights the adaptability of cyber criminals but also underscores the efforts of law enforcement in combating digital fraud, suggesting the need for continued vigilance and cooperative measures among agencies to tackle such widespread criminal activities.
