The CEO of United Bank for Africa, Oliver Alawuba, has called on South-East leaders to focus on enhancing security and developing infrastructure in the region.

Olive Alawuba, the Group Managing Director and CEO of United Bank for Africa Plc, has emphasized the need for leaders in Nigeria's South-East region to prioritize security and peace. During his remarks at the South-East Vision 2050 Regional Stakeholder Forum held in Enugu, Alawuba highlighted how essential a secure environment is for fostering investment and social stability. He underscored the urgency for stakeholders to collaborate on initiatives that would safeguard the region against insecurity and violence, which have hampered its development.

Alawuba also urged for significant advancements in infrastructure development, stressing that such progress must be accompanied by projects that attract investment. The forum, organized by the South-East Development Commission in cooperation with various government sectors, aimed to refine the South-East Vision 2050 development framework. The focus was on creating a roadmap that encompasses the region's long-term development potential, with a commitment to making the necessary changes to improve living conditions and economic opportunities.

By placing security at the forefront of regional discourse, Alawuba hopes to mobilize local leaders and stakeholders to address pressing challenges effectively. In his role as both a banking leader and a representative of the business community, he aims to contribute to a cohesive strategy for the South-East that not only addresses current issues but also lays a sustainable foundation for future growth and development in the area.
