The Controladoria-Geral da União (CGU) has released a report revealing a significant loss of R$ 4.5 million related to the purchase of 'Aedes do Bem' mosquito kits by the municipal government of Rio Branco in 2024. The report, which was completed in September of the previous year but only made public recently, points out that the procurement was executed without a bidding process and involved a contract with a private company, Estação da Limpeza LTDA. This irregularity resulted in the loss of 16,000 kits, with many of the products arriving in Rio Branco either expired or nearing their expiration dates.
