At the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, Anna Odine Ström from Norway secured the gold medal in the women's ski jumping normal hill event, achieving a stunning victory over Slovenia's Nika Prevc, who had dominated the World Cup series this season. Ström's performance was remarkable, with a first jump of 100 meters earning her 136.9 points, putting her in the lead. She followed that up with an impressive second jump of 101 meters, which amassed another 130.4 points, totaling 267.3 points in the final standings.
Despite being seven years younger, Nika Prevc had an impressive season leading up to the Olympics, with 13 wins in the World Cup events. In the normal hill competition, Prevc recorded jumps of 98 meters and 99.5 meters, scoring 135.9 and 130.3 points respectively for a total of 266.2 points. The competition was intensely close, with only 1.1 points separating the two athletes at the end.
