Irregular liquor store closed and more than 30 adolescents caught consuming alcohol in Manaus
In Manaus, over 30 adolescents were caught consuming alcohol in an unlicensed liquor store that was also overcrowded during a police operation.
In a police operation on Saturday, the Amazonas Military Police closed an unlicensed liquor store in the Alvorada neighborhood of Manaus, where over 30 adolescents aged between 15 and 17 were found consuming alcohol. The establishment was operating without the necessary documentation and was significantly overcrowded, with 300 people present in a space intended for only 100.
The police action resulted in the apprehension of more than 30 motorcycles for various irregularities. The adolescents found at the scene were taken in by teams from the State Secretariat of Justice, Human Rights, and Citizenship (Sejusc) and transported to the Integrated Center for Attention to Children and Adolescents (Ciaca). Support was provided by the Guardianship Council, the Childhood and Youth Court, and the State Health Secretariat (SES).
This operation highlights ongoing concerns about underage drinking and the operation of unregulated venues in Brazil, prompting discussions about the enforcement of laws aimed at protecting minors and ensuring public safety. The involvement of multiple agencies suggests a coordinated effort to address these issues and provide appropriate care for the affected adolescents.
