Residents of the New Zagreb neighborhoods of Trokut and Savski Gaj have finally received a long-awaited safe pedestrian and cycling underpass beneath the railway tracks after decades of waiting, with the project costing approximately 1.5 million euros excluding VAT according to the City of Zagreb. This new infrastructure is expected to greatly facilitate movement between these two neighborhoods.
The underpass measures 12.2 meters in length, 4.5 meters in width, and 3 meters in height, and is located at the end of Leopold Tepeša Street. With its completion, safety for both pedestrians and cyclists has been significantly improved. Additionally, a new 100-meter-long pedestrian and cycling path has been built, and new public lighting has been installed along the entire route and within the underpass itself.
Officials have stated that the completion of this project greatly enhances the safety and quality of movement for pedestrians and cyclists in the area, permanently addressing a longstanding issue for residents. This infrastructure improvement marks a significant investment in the community's transport network, aiming to promote safer and more accessible options for non-motorized transportation.
