Sanitary Surveillance inspects supermarket after report of snacks with larvae in Cabo Frio
The Sanitary Surveillance in Cabo Frio inspected a supermarket following allegations of contaminated snacks but found no immediate health risks.
In response to complaints about snacks allegedly containing larvae sold at a supermarket in the Parque Riviera neighborhood of Cabo Frio, the Municipal Sanitary Surveillance conducted an inspection on Friday. The inspection aimed to assess the hygiene conditions and storage of the food items sold at the supermarket, particularly those in the internal snack bar that received the complaints.
The Cabo Frio city government announced that the inspection was prompted by consumer grievances made during the week regarding potential irregularities in the products offered. During the check, the Sanitary Surveillance agents reported that they did not find any irregularities that posed an immediate risk to public health, thereby alleviating concerns over food safety in the establishment.
Further, the municipal authorities noted that the supermarket is undergoing partial renovations and was provided with recommendations for making structural adjustments, particularly related to the ceiling, as well as for improving the labeling and identification of cold cuts' packaging. This incident highlights the diligence of health authorities in maintaining food safety standards in local businesses during public health inspections, even with the absence of immediate health risks during this visit.
