Activists to Al Jazeera: Preparations for the Largest International Solidarity Mission to Break the Gaza Siege
International activists are organizing the largest solidarity mission to support Gaza, featuring over 100 boats and more than a thousand participants, including doctors and teachers.
International activist Thiago Avila, a member of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, announced preparations for the largest international solidarity mission to assist the Gaza Strip. The initiative aims to mobilize more than 100 boats and over 1,000 participants, including medical professionals and educators. The campaign sends a strong message that "there is no peace without justice, and no solution without ending the occupation, genocide, and apartheid system."
Avila emphasized that the Palestinian right to self-determination can only be realized with global support that respects their will and sovereignty. This mission, referred to as the "Global Resistance Fleet," is set to launch from Barcelona and other Mediterranean ports on March 29, coinciding with a land convoy.
Another activist, Hannah Phillips, underlined that the event will see participation from thousands of activists worldwide, conveying that there is a people-led alternative, driven by Palestinians themselves, that supports their rights to security, justice, and sovereignty without imposing compromises upon them. The upcoming mission symbolizes growing international solidarity with the Palestinian cause amidst ongoing challenges faced by the region.
