On the morning of Saturday, February 7th, a serious accident occurred on the Quito–Papallacta road when two vehicles collided head-on. The incident resulted in one fatality and four individuals sustaining injuries, prompting a rapid response from emergency services. Authorities promptly closed the road to manage the crisis and investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The collision took place in the Paluguillo sector, where heavy rainfall had made the roads slippery and difficult for drivers to navigate. Reports indicate that two light vehicles lost control, leading to the frontal collision. One of the vehicles overturned multiple times, contributing to the severity of the impact. Emergency medical services attended to the injured at the scene, where they provided necessary prehospital care prior to transporting them to local medical facilities.

Tragically, one of the occupants succumbed to their injuries before rescue teams could arrive.
