Ready for the finals after nerve-wracking Olympic qualification

Sebastian Schjerve successfully secured a spot in the slopestyle finals at the Olympic qualifiers in Livigno, alongside two other Norwegian skiers.

Sebastian Schjerve from Namsos has advanced to the finals in slopestyle skiing following a tense qualification round in Livigno. After experiencing significant pressure throughout the competition, particularly sitting at 11th place for most of the day, he celebrated securing his final position just as the last competitor finished their run. Schjerve expressed his excitement, noting that the anticipation from other competitors could have pushed him down in the rankings.

The qualification day started off challenging for Schjerve as he fell during his first jump, making it crucial for him to deliver an impeccable second attempt in order to move forward. Rising to the challenge, the 25-year-old skater performed remarkably in his second run, earning a score of 67.63 points which elevated him to 10th place, just enough to qualify for the finals.

The finals for slopestyle skiing will take place on Tuesday at 12:30, with Schjerve accompanied by two other talented Norwegian skiers who also made it through the qualification round. As they prepare for the finals, the team’s collective achievement boosts their morale and represents a significant moment for Norwegian skiing in the lead-up to the Olympics.
