Two HRZ helicopters rescued a young patient from Dubrovnik. "Unique action"
Two Croatian war helicopters conducted a complex emergency medical airlift of a young patient from Dubrovnik to Zagreb, emphasizing the effectiveness of military assistance in urgent medical situations.
On a recent morning, Croatian Air Force pilots executed a sophisticated emergency medical transportation operation for a young patient in Dubrovnik, utilizing two distinct helicopters for the task. This operation was characterized as "unique" by the Croatian Ministry of Defense, showcasing the capability and coordination of military resources in medical emergencies. The helicopters involved were the Mi-171Sh and the more modern Black Hawk UH-60M, highlighting the dual approach of traditional and advanced aviation technologies in the realm of emergency services.
The operation commenced at 8:33 AM when the Mi-171Sh helicopter took off from the Divulje barracks, heading towards the General Hospital in Dubrovnik to pick up the patient. After successfully retrieving the patient and a medical team at 9:20 AM, the helicopter then reversed course and landed back at Divulje by 10:48 AM. This first leg of the operation underscored the efficiency of the military's rapid response capabilities in critical situations, catering to the need for swift medical intervention.
In Divulje, a handover was facilitated to transfer the patient to the faster Black Hawk helicopter, allowing for a quicker flight to Zagreb. This transfer not only demonstrated the importance of multi-aircraft coordination in emergency medical services but also emphasized the role of the military in supporting civilian health emergencies. Such operations enhance the healthcare system's resilience and ensure that patients in critical condition receive timely medical attention, showcasing a cooperation between military and civilian entities for the greater good.
