Bus drove away with a woman in the trunk – the driver lacked a driver’s license
A woman was left in the trunk of a bus after it drove off, with the driver later found to be unlicensed.
A strange incident occurred in Drammen, Norway, where a woman inadvertently ended up in the trunk of a bus after she crawled in to retrieve her suitcase. She had taken the "Torp Express" to Bangeløkka and when both trunk lids closed unexpectedly, the bus took off, continuing on its journey for about 20 minutes before stopping at the next point. During the ride, the woman reported her situation to the police, who promptly responded to the next stop to ensure her safety and confirm that she was unharmed.
The operation manager, Eskil Hagen Olsen, clarified that the incident was considered an accident and that fortunately, no injuries occurred. However, the matter escalated into a police case when it was discovered that the bus driver did not possess a valid driver's license, as it had expired. Hagen Olsen noted this development in the police log, underscoring the serious nature of driving without a valid license.
Espen Hveem, the leader of Unibuss, the operator of the Torp Express, expressed concern over the event and the implications of the driver's lack of proper credentials. The situation raises questions about safety protocols for passengers and the responsibility of transportation companies to ensure their drivers are fully licensed and compliant with regulations, which is essential for the safety of all passengers on public transport services.
