Africa: NCDMB Pledges Enduring Support for Appo, Africa Energy Bank
The NCDMB has committed ongoing support to APPO and the new Africa Energy Bank following a meeting with APPO's new Secretary General.
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has pledged its unwavering support to the African Petroleum Producers Organisation (APPO) and the newly launched African Energy Bank (AEB). This commitment was made by NCDMB Executive Secretary Felix Omatsola Ogbe during a courtesy visit from APPO's new Secretary General, Farid Ghezali, along with other senior officials of the organization, at the NCDMB’s Abuja liaison office.
The meeting, which took place shortly after Nigeria officially handed over the fully operational AEB office, highlights the significant collaboration between the NCDMB, APPO, and Afreximbank, the co-owners of the AEB. This milestone is crucial as the bank is expected to enhance financing and investment in the energy sector across Africa, ultimately contributing to the continent's economic development and energy independence.
As the African energy landscape continues to evolve, NCDMB’s support for APPO and the AEB underscores Nigeria's strategic role in driving regional cooperation and strengthening institutional capacities within the energy sector. The backing of such initiatives is not only vital for sustaining energy resources but also for fostering economic growth and attracting further investments across African countries.
