His academic career included serving as a lecturer in Baltic languages at the Institute of Comparative Linguistics at the University of Bonn, where he shared his expertise with students and contributed to the understanding of Baltic linguistics.

In addition to his teaching, Grasis also worked as a translator during various visits by Latvian delegations, helping bridge cultural and linguistic gaps.
