A group named 'Ogoni Beyond Oil and Politics' is advocating for multinational oil companies to support the recently established Federal University of Environment and Technology in Rivers State, Nigeria, to facilitate the training of local youths for the oil and gas industry.

The Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project has successfully trained 100 youths from Ogoniland in seafaring, aimed at providing alternative livelihoods and supporting Nigeria's Blue Economy.
