Belo Horizonte Food Bank begins re-registration of institutions; see deadline and details

The Belo Horizonte Food Bank has started the mandatory re-registration of institutions benefiting from its program, which is necessary for continued participation.

The Belo Horizonte Food Bank commenced its mandatory re-registration of entities receiving aid from its initiative on Monday, April 23. This process is crucial for organizations that wish to continue their participation, with the deadline for completing the re-registration set for April 17. Institutions must register exclusively via the BH Digital platform, requiring a gov.br account. Following the submission of necessary documents, these organizations will undergo a technical visit and will formalize their agreement with the program.

The Food Bank program focuses on collecting edible food that would otherwise be discarded, redistributing it to social institutions aimed at providing meals for vulnerable populations. Currently, the program supports 39 organizations that utilize the gathered food to make meals for those in need. The initiative not only addresses food waste but also aids significantly in combating food insecurity in the region.

Looking forward, the re-registration process is valid for two years for formal institutions and one year for informal groups. As the program grows, efforts will continue to expand its reach and impact, addressing the increasing demand for food assistance in Belo Horizonte as the city strives to improve the living conditions of its vulnerable communities.
