Residents of multi-apartment buildings will receive nearly half a million euros: what to do to get support
Lithuania is allocating nearly half a million euros to support residents of multi-apartment buildings in transitioning away from hazardous natural gas (SND) balloons, enhancing safety and encouraging modern energy solutions.
The Lithuanian government is taking significant steps to ensure the safety of residents in multi-apartment buildings still using hazardous natural gas (SND) balloons by distributing nearly half a million euros in support. The program, administered by the Environmental Projects Management Agency (APVA), aims to secure residents' safety and reduce risks associated with these outdated energy solutions. As part of this project, residents will be encouraged to switch to safer energy solutions, with the initiative set to continue into 2026.
As outlined by Energy Vice Minister Gabriel Gorbačevski, the financial assistance will be provided to apartment residents to transition from SND balloons to more secure energy systems. Each household can receive up to 726 euros in funding, which can cover the costs linked to internal network installations within common areas, electrical system renovations, or the purchase of safer cooking appliances like electric or gas stoves. This assistance is part of broader efforts to create a safer and more modern living environment for residents of multi-apartment buildings.
Additionally, the process requires residents to adopt a unified approach within their apartment buildings. They must collectively agree to make the necessary changes for the subsidy to be applied. With over 350 multi-apartment buildings identified for this transition, the initiative underscores the government’s commitment to addressing safety challenges associated with outdated energy infrastructure and promoting a shift towards modern, reliable energy solutions.
