Former football chief nominated as new ski president
Former national football team coach Roger Finjord has been nominated to become the new president of the Norwegian Ski Federation, reflecting his significant involvement in both football and skiing.
Roger Finjord, a notable figure in Norwegian sports who previously served as the head coach for the women's national football team, has been nominated as the new president of the Norwegian Ski Federation. Finjord, who hails from รksfjord, expressed his excitement and pride at the nomination, emphasizing the importance of the position and its impact on his community.
In addition to his football coaching experience, Finjord has a strong background in skiing, having served as the leader of the cross-country skiing committee in the Finnmark district. Currently, he holds the position of vice-chairman in the Finnmark Ski Association and has a full-time job as the director of the Finnmark Football Association. Should he be elected, he plans to take a leave of absence from his football role to focus on leading the ski federation.
Finjord faces challenges as he enters this new role, notably addressing concerns about the future of skiing in Norway, which has encountered criticism and predictions of decline in popularity. His leadership will be crucial in revitalizing interest and addressing the issues facing the sport, as he aims to blend his experiences from football and skiing to foster growth and development in the Norwegian skiing community.
