We have overslept. No one has defense against drones, warns expert. Hope is Ukraine

A security expert warns that countries, including the Czech Republic, are unprepared for drone warfare and highlights the advancements Ukraine has made.

Milan Mikulecký, a security expert who has worked for five years in Abu Dhabi, emphasizes that many countries, including wealthy Arab states and the Czech Republic, are not prepared for the rising threat of drone warfare. He notes that while Gulf states like Saudi Arabia and the UAE cannot completely neutralize threats from Iranian drones and missiles, they have advanced systems such as THAAD, which are not available to other nations. Mikulecký argues that these countries underestimated the economy of war and the West's ability to supply expensive weapon systems.

Importantly, Mikulecký points out that even the United States is reallocating air defense resources from its Asian bases, indicating broader implications for global security dynamics. He suggests that while these countries could potentially find financial resources for defense, the real challenge lies in the manufacturing speed and capacity for effective defense systems. This gap leaves nations like the Czech Republic vulnerable amid escalating drone threats.

Mikulecký argues that Ukraine represents a beacon of hope, having learned to produce low-cost means of defense over the four years of conflict. This could serve as a model for other nations grappling with similar vulnerabilities, stressing the need for urgent action and innovation in defense strategies to keep pace with emerging threats.
