Vantaa expropriated a large inheritance estate at a bargain price, but the neighbor could strike it rich from their own land

The Finnish city of Vantaa has expropriated the Saraksen family estate for future residential development, prompting controversy over compensation and the ongoing legal battle.

Vantaa, a city in Finland, has made a significant turn in its land use policy by deciding to expropriate the lands of the Saraksen family estate, which covers 43 hectares, back in 2015. This decision was prompted by the city's need for residential development in the Kivistรถ area. The owners of the estate have contested the compensation amount of 3.25 million euros, claiming that their land was taken from them at an unreasonably low price. Despite their legal challenges, including a rejection of their appeal by the European Court of Human Rights in March of this year, the owners appear to be unwilling to give up as they continue to fight in the courts.
