Nettavisen survey: Continued strong support for the royal family

A recent survey shows that 64.6% of Norwegians support maintaining the monarchy, with the popularity of the royal family remaining stable since the last measurement.

A survey conducted by InFact for Nettavisen indicates that over 64% of respondents believe Norway should remain a monarchy, showing consistent support for the royal institution. The poll, carried out on March 20 among 1,018 Norwegian citizens over 18, has a margin of error of up to 3 percentage points. The changes in public opinion since the previous poll are within this margin of error, suggesting that views on the monarchy have remained steady.

The survey also explored public perceptions of Crown Princess Mette-Marit and her suitability to become queen. Interestingly, 41.9% expressed doubts about her fitness for the role, while 30.9% believed she would make a suitable queen. This data comes on the heels of a significant interview with Crown Princess Mette-Marit, published on the same day by NRK, where she addressed her relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, further complicating her public image.

In contrast to the mixed views on Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Crown Prince Haakon received a more favorable assessment, with 58% of respondents believing he will perform well as king. These insights into the royal family's popularity highlight ongoing public support for the monarchy, despite challenges posed by individual members' controversies.
