ABC journalists and staff will strike for 24 hours after a majority rejected the broadcaster's pay offer in a recent vote.
ABC journalists and staff have voted against the broadcaster's latest pay offer, resulting in a planned 24-hour strike set to begin on Wednesday at 11am. The vote saw 60% of the staff who participated rejecting the enterprise agreement (EA) proposal, which included a pay increase of 3.5% for the first year followed by 3.25% in the next two years. The decision to strike comes after a previous vote in November also fell short of a majority by 238 votes, indicating ongoing discontent within the workforce regarding compensation.
