Cyclist reveals injuries after horrific crash and fall over guard rail

Italian cyclist Debora Silvestri has sustained serious injuries from a crash during the Milan-San Remo one-day classic.

Debora Silvestri, a 27-year-old Italian cyclist, recently shared the serious injuries she sustained after a crash during the Milan-San Remo one-day classic. The incident occurred when she collided with other cyclists, causing her to fall over a guard rail and land hard on her side. In her updates shared via Instagram, Silvestri revealed that she has five broken ribs and a micro fracture in her shoulder, but she remains optimistic about her recovery.

Following the accident, Silvestri was taken to the hospital, where she is currently being monitored. Despite her injuries, she expressed gratitude for the support she received from fans and her team, Laboral Kutxa. She acknowledged the outpouring of well-wishes and reassured her followers that she is focused on recovery, stating, "Time to recover but no worries, I will come back.โ€

The crash also affected other cyclists in the race, including two of the favourites, Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney and Kim Le Court-Pienaar. Niewiadoma-Phinney was unable to continue racing due to her injuries, while Le Court-Pienaar managed to remount but faced challenges afterwards.
