Decomposed body found with hands and feet tied in Rio Vermelho, MT
A decomposed body with tied hands and feet was discovered in the Rio Vermelho in Brazil's MT state over the weekend.
On Saturday night, a decomposed body was recovered from the Rio Vermelho in a hard-to-reach area along the MT-471, known as the Fish Highway, in the Gleba São João region of Rondonópolis, approximately 215 km from Cuiabá. The body was found by local residents who alerted the emergency services, leading the 3rd Military Fire Brigade (3º BBM) to dispatch a team to the scene. The recovery operation involved navigating the river with a boat to reach the location indicated by the community members.
Upon arrival, the fire brigade discovered that the body had its hands and feet bound and was in an advanced state of decomposition, making identification difficult. Due to the conditions of the body, first responders were unable to ascertain the victim's sex. After the recovery process, the body was taken to the Civil Police, the Technical and Official Forensic Institute (Politec), and the Legal Medical Institute (IML) for further identification and investigation.
This grim discovery raises concerns about crime and safety in the area, particularly as the circumstances surrounding the victim's death remain unknown. Authorities are now tasked with investigating the case to determine the identity of the victim and the circumstances leading to this tragic incident, as well as any potential connections to criminal activities in the region.
