Culiacán promotes the 'Social World Cup' with new fields and bets on community sports
Culiacán is advancing its 'Social World Cup' initiative by building new sports fields to promote community engagement through sports.
In alignment with the national policy advocated by Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum, aiming for the Football World Cup to serve as a tool for social well-being, the municipality of Culiacán is making significant strides with its 'Social World Cup' program. This initiative is establishing Culiacán as a model for the creation of community sports spaces that foster inclusion, opportunity, and development for children and youth.
At the La Puerta neighborhood, the newly inaugurated synthetic grass soccer field was highlighted by Mayor Juan de Dios Gámez, who emphasized that Culiacán is not only strengthening its sports infrastructure but also embracing a nationwide vision focused on providing opportunities and support through sports activities. This aligns with the broader goal of ensuring that sporting events contribute positively to community engagement and development.
The new complex, covering an area of 1,086 square meters with an investment exceeding 2.8 million pesos, is part of a nationwide effort to reclaim public spaces and transform them into centers of community interaction, prevention, and social cohesion. By constructing such facilities, Culiacán aims to enhance the lives of its residents, particularly the younger population, through accessible and inclusive sports initiatives.
