Vikersund ski jump competition canceled due to strong winds

The Vikersund ski jump competition was canceled because strong winds prevented male competitors from taking the jump.

The Vikersund ski jump competition, part of the FIS World Cup series, was scheduled to take place on Sunday evening in Norway but had to be canceled due to excessively strong winds. The strong wind conditions also impacted the women's competition held earlier in the day, albeit it was completed successfully. Norwegian Eirin Maria Kvandal clinched the victory in the women's event, showcasing outstanding performance amid challenging weather conditions.

As the windy weather worsened by the evening, the International Ski Federation (FIS) officially announced the cancellation of the men's event, which included Estonian competitor Artti Aigro on the starting list. This cancellation leaves only the traditional finals in Planica, Slovenia, set for March 26-29, remaining in the ski jump World Cup season.

With Domen Prevc from Slovenia already securing the overall World Cup title on March 6 with 1968 points, the competition for the second place appears to be a battle between Japanese Ryoyu Kobayashi and Austrian Daniel Tschofenig, as their scores are closely contested, highlighting the intense competition in the latter part of the season.
