Prime Minister Andrej Plenković announced that the government plans to reinstate fuel price caps and is in ongoing discussions regarding the extension of spring assistance measures for citizens. The Prime Minister highlighted the significance of extending regulations on electricity pricing and noted that gas prices are already regulated until October. Moreover, special attention will be given to vulnerable energy customers, and the government is considering several initiatives aimed at supporting farmers who are particularly impacted by rising blue diesel prices.
The Prime Minister also warned that the current energy crisis is likely to be more pronounced than the previous crisis experienced four years ago, which was triggered by Russia's aggression against Ukraine. This sets the stage for a comprehensive governmental response as they work on these essential measures to safeguard citizens and stabilize the economic situation amidst an increasingly volatile energy landscape.
