On Saturday, a serious road accident occurred on the BR-282 in Chapecó, Santa Catarina, claiming the lives of three individuals and injuring four others. The collision was between a heavy cargo truck and a pickup truck at around 5 AM. The victims, identified as 57-year-old Lourdes de Fátima Capelli Luzia, 62-year-old José Luzia, and 25-year-old Rudimar Dutra, perished at the scene, while a woman who survived was left in critical condition.
Emergency services reported that the pickup truck was carrying four occupants at the time, three of whom died immediately due to the impact of the crash. The only survivor from the pickup—a woman in the front seat—was found unconscious and is suspected to have sustained a traumatic brain injury. She was transported by ambulance to the Hospital Regional do Oeste for urgent medical care.
The truck involved in the accident was carrying three individuals, with the 56-year-old driver also being attended to after the collision.
