Police seek witnesses: Over 90-year-old senior citizen robbed by con artists
A 90-year-old woman in Munich was robbed by a con artist after being deceived by a telephone scam where the caller pretended her son had cancer.
In Munich-Untermenzing, a con artist targeted a 90-year-old woman by posing as a doctor over the phone, claiming her son needed urgent cancer treatment that would cost at least 100,000 euros. The scam involved convincing her that she needed to provide cash and jewelry to secure the supposed treatment.
During the arranged meeting at her home to exchange the valuables, the elderly woman became suspicious and attempted to withdraw, but the con artist forcibly snatched the bags containing her valuables. Fortunately, she did not sustain any injuries despite the violent encounter. Following the incident, the perpetrator fled on foot, prompting the police to seek witnesses who may have seen the events unfold.
The police have described the suspect as a man approximately 40 years old, standing at 1.70 meters tall with a normal build, short brown hair, and noticeable gaps in his teeth. Investigators emphasize the importance of public assistance in tracking down the suspect and preventing similar crimes against vulnerable individuals in the community.
