During the heats of the World Indoor Championships held in Torun, the Czech women's 4x400m relay team faced disqualification, effectively putting an end to their aspirations for further success. This took place despite the team having the newly crowned gold medalist Lurdes Gloria Manuel, who had already had a successful individual competition. The absence of two key athletes, Johanka Šafářová and Terezie Táborská, due to health issues, left the team with only four runners to compete in the relay event. Manuel, who had already endured three individual races, was called upon to run the second leg of the relay, taking on the challenge despite fatigue from her previous races.
