ADC begins sale of nomination forms ahead of party convention
The African Democratic Congress in Nigeria has commenced the sale of nomination forms for its upcoming party elections at various levels.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially announced the commencement of sales for Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms in preparation for its upcoming electoral events, which include Ward, Local Government, State Congresses, and the National Convention. This initiative aims to encourage party members to participate actively in the democratic process by contesting for various elective positions within the party. The announcement was shared through a notice signed by the partyβs National Organising Secretary, Pa Idigo, highlighting the inclusivity of the party's electoral process.
The cost of the nomination forms varies significantly according to the level of position being contested. At the ward level, the fees are relatively low, with the Expression of Interest Form priced at N2,000, and nomination fees ranging from N3,000 to N10,000 depending on the office. In contrast, the fees for local government positions are considerably higher, reaching up to N40,000 for the LGA Chairman. Similarly, state-level nominations involve hefty fees, with State Chairman forms costing N500,000 and State Secretary forms at N300,000, indicating the seriousness of competition at these levels.
This announcement signals the ADC's commitment to promoting active participation among party members and preparing for an organized electoral process. By providing a structured fee system, the party aims to streamline the nomination process while ensuring that candidates are financially prepared for the challenges ahead. This step also reflects the ADC's strategy to enhance its internal democracy and governance as it gears up for its National Convention, which holds potential implications for the party's influence and operations in Nigeria's political landscape.
