A 40-year-old woman was arrested in Athens after crashing into 14 parked vehicles while attempting to park.
A 40-year-old driver was arrested in the Ampelokipoi area of Athens early in the morning after crashing into 14 parked cars while attempting to park her own vehicle. The incident occurred around 1:00 AM on streets including Kandanos, Messinias, Kalamon, and Trikalon. Fortunately, despite the extensive material damages caused to the parked vehicles, there were no reported injuries to anyone involved.
Local police were summoned to the scene and conducted a breathalyzer test on the driver, revealing a blood alcohol concentration of 0.78 mg/L, which is above the legal limit. As a result, she was arrested for driving under the influence and for the damage caused to the parked vehicles. This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding drunk driving in urban areas, particularly during late-night hours when people may be returning home after social outings.
The crash also raises questions about road safety and the need for increased awareness regarding the dangers of impaired driving. Local authorities may consider taking more stringent measures to combat drunk driving incidents, including enhancing roadside checks and public awareness campaigns to discourage alcohol consumption before driving.
