According to recent data, approximately 70% of MG Windsor's sales are attributed to non-metro cities, while major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai contribute only 30%. Since its launch in October 2024, around 65,000 units of this model have been sold, indicating a strong acceptance of electric vehicles in regions that are traditionally seen as less lucrative for automotive manufacturers. This trend is reshaping the landscape of the Indian auto market, highlighting the importance of catering to the needs and preferences of consumers in smaller towns.

Vinay Raina, Chief Commercial Officer at JSW MG Motor India, remarked on this shift by noting that the market dynamics are changing, with a growing number of individuals in smaller cities venturing into the EV segment. This significant consumer interest suggests a promising future for electric vehicle adoption across India, particularly as more manufacturers recognize the potential beyond urban centers.
