Trio arrested after being caught with drugs in Boa Vista square

Three young men were arrested for drug possession in a square in Boa Vista, Brazil, during a police patrol.

In a late-night operation on Saturday, three young men aged 20 and 23 were arrested in the Cambará neighborhood of Boa Vista in Roraima, Brazil, after police spotted them with illegal drugs. During a routine patrol, the police noticed one of the suspects, aged 23, discarding two packets—one containing skank and another containing cocaine—before being approached by officers. The swift action by the patrol resulted in the immediate apprehension of the group.

Upon searching one of the younger suspects, officers discovered two packets of pasta base de cocaína hidden in his shorts pocket. Another suspect was found with R$ 160 in cash. Notably, during the police inquiry, one suspect exhibited erratic behavior, and when prompted, he revealed that he had concealed further drugs in his mouth, which he subsequently handed over to the authorities.

This incident highlights ongoing issues of drug trafficking in the region, as the police noted that the 20-year-old had been arrested the previous day on similar charges. The continuous efforts of the Polícia Militar to combat drug-related crimes illustrate the challenges faced in managing public safety and addressing drug issues in Boa Vista, a city coping with various societal and security-related challenges.
