The growing issue of improperly discarded waste and debris in Rio de Janeiro has become increasingly severe, significantly impacting urban cleaning services. According to data from the 1746 system, between January and March of 2026, the city received 39,154 requests for the removal of debris and waste from public roads, averaging about 501 calls per day. This figure is higher than the total number of requests made throughout the entire previous year, which stood at 155,000, averaging 424 requests per day. The North Zone has the highest number of complaints, with 11,349 requests, followed by the West Zone with 6,024 requests.
