Two arrested and suspected of theft worth several tens of thousands of kroner

Two individuals from Romania have been arrested at Torp Airport in Sandefjord on suspicion of theft involving goods worth over 30,000 kroner, linked to multiple thefts across Norway.

Two people were arrested at Torp Airport in Sandefjord, Norway, on suspicion of having committed thefts amounting to over 30,000 kroner. The suspects, both from Romania, are believed to be connected to a series of thefts that occurred at various locations across Norway, as confirmed by the Sørøst police district. The police identified the individuals due to their vehicle, which had been reported stolen in connection with two separate thefts in Møre og Romsdal.

The stolen goods include luxury items such as perfumes, hygiene products, and electronic devices. According to Eskil Hagen Olsen, the operations leader with Sørøst police district, the thefts occurred earlier this month, with the first incident taking place at a Clas Ohlson store and the second at a Normal store, both on the same day. The combined value of the stolen items in these incidents exceeded 30,000 kroner, highlighting a significant case of theft.

This situation illustrates ongoing issues related to theft in Norway, particularly involving organized groups targeting retailers across several regions. It emphasizes the need for vigilance by both law enforcement and retail businesses to prevent these crimes and ensure a safer environment for consumers and businesses alike.
