G7: Ready to Support Global Energy Supply

The G7 countries have expressed their readiness to take all necessary measures to ensure a stable global energy supply amid pressures from the Middle East conflict and attacks on energy infrastructure.

The G7 nations have declared their preparedness to implement all necessary actions to support the global energy supply, as tensions escalate due to the ongoing war in the Middle East affecting energy resources and maritime routes. In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom, along with the High Representative of the European Union, emphasized their commitment to intervene to maintain a steady flow of energy in international markets.

This position comes in response to increased threats from Iran, which has conducted attacks on Gulf states, impacting energy facilities and navigation routes in the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial area for global oil supply. These actions have raised concerns over potential disruptions in energy availability, prompting the G7 to take a proactive stance in safeguarding energy resources.

Additionally, the International Energy Agency has announced the release of 400 million barrels from strategic reserves to help mitigate the supply shortfall. By offering support to Gulf nations, the G7 aims to stabilize global energy markets and ensure continued supply amidst geopolitical challenges, reinforcing the importance of collaborative efforts to address energy security issues globally.
