A café in Latvia showcases the talents of a young man with Down syndrome during World Down Syndrome Day.

A café called "Coffee Society" in Latvia recently welcomed a new assistant, Ginters, on World Down Syndrome Day. Ginters, who is 17 years old and has Down syndrome, is learning to make coffee under the guidance of Karolina Jance, one of the café's owners. Despite being new to the coffee-making equipment, Ginters successfully prepared coffee for his mother, demonstrating his capabilities and the importance of inclusivity for those with disabilities.

Ginters is a beloved member of the Kārkliņš family, where he is the middle child. His family values his individuality, highlighting how he is different from his older brother and younger sister but equally cherished. Ginters has a passion for music, often waking up early to play the guitar, which brings a bright start to his mornings. His sister, Unita, expresses how Ginters brings joy and laughter to their household, fostering a loving and understanding environment for him.

His mother aims to raise awareness among the general public about the potential of individuals with Down syndrome, like Ginters, to integrate into society and hold jobs in the future, such as a kitchen helper. She emphasizes the importance of showcasing that children like Ginters can contribute meaningfully in various roles. By taking part in social activities, Ginters portrays a positive image of those with Down syndrome, encouraging society to embrace diversity and support individuals with disabilities.
